Young’s Seafood Limited and their Design Agency Springetts have been recognised by the renowned Design Business Association (DBA) in their annual Design Effectiveness Awards. The Seafood supplier and Design Agency were presented with the Bronze Award at a glamorous ceremony in London on the 11th February.

The accolade was given in recognition of Young’s Seafood Limited’s incredible new Master Brand design, which saw innovative new packaging for it’s products launch into stores in February last year. The new range of products with their irresistible and sophisticated packaging were roundly praised by DBA judges.

The complete and integrated rebrand across all categories was the first for Young’s Seafood Limited in over a decade and marked the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation. The Master Brand includes a newly designed version of the famous Young’s seascape on all products, drawing a visual link between every product and sub-brand in the Young’s family. The artwork is based on the Grimsby docks, where the company has been based for many years and locals will recognise a depiction of the famous Grimsby Dock Tower.

Yvonne Adam, Marketing Director at Young’s Seafood Limited, commented: “The Design Effectiveness Awards are incredibly well-respected and I am thrilled that the Young’s Seafood Master Brand Design has been given the Bronze Award. Working with our Design Agency Springetts has been an absolute pleasure and the results speak for themselves. I want to thank Springetts for their commitment to our brand and our values and thank the DBA for recognising the new Young’s Seafood Master Brand with this prestigious award.”

Pete Ward, Chief Executive of Young’s Seafood Limited, added: “I am extremely proud that Young’s Seafood Limited’s inspiring new Master Brand has been so well received by the Design Business Association. Young’s have enjoyed a long and productive relationship with our Design Agency Springetts and they deserve recognition for their exciting designs.

It’s wonderful to see the Grimsby seascape so beautifully reflected on all our packaging. The history and heritage of our business is important to everyone involved in Young’s and we’re delighted that through our branding we are able to communicate that to all our customers.”

Paul Williams Creative Director at Springetts, commented: “We always value a Design Effectiveness Award as they are so widely recognised with our industry and our clients’ industries. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with our partners Young’s Seafood Limited to help develop their new Master Brand and are absolutely delighted with the results.

We have worked with Young’s for over 30 years and this has enabled us to develop a truly incredible partnership with the company, to see them grow and become the number one seafood supplier in the UK has been an honour. Through this long term relationship Springetts have been able to truly understand the deeply held values of Young’s, to do the right thing, everyday, from creating their Fish for Life Corporate Social Responsibility Programme ten years ago, to bravely re-evaluating their Master Brand last year. We understood how important Young’s heritage is to the company and were able to express this with the inclusion of the breath taking Grimsby seascape across all Touchpoints. We admire the brand and the company and look forward to continuing to work together in the future.”

The DBA established the Design Effectiveness Awards in 1989 to celebrate the absolute best of design that has categorically changed the landscape and to showcase the very best partnerships between businesses and agencies. All entries go through two rigorous rounds of judging by senior business figures from brands and organisations including British Airways, Cabinet Office, Channel Four, Coca Cola, Innocent, LEGO, Macmillan, Procter & Gamble and Royal Philips. This year’s winners were announced at an exclusive ceremony in London, attended by Young’s Seafood and the Springetts team alongside over 500 design and business leaders.
