About the Donation:

As part of the Young’s Seafood Limited award-winning Fish for Life Corporate Social Responsibility Programme every month staff members nominate and vote for a charity to donate £250 to via a token scheme. This month Cheryl Atkin, PA to the Chief Executive at Young’s Seafood Limited, nominated Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home in North Somercotes to receive the much-needed donation.

Quote from Pete Ward, Chief Executive of Young’s Seafood Limited:

“I’m incredibly proud of our Fish For Life Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. At Young’s Seafood Limited our commitment to doing the right thing every day is critical to every aspect of our business and donating funds to worthwhile charities like Ark Animal Rescue is one important part of that commitment. Ark Animal Rescue is a wonderful charity which relies on the generosity of the local community to continue it’s fantastic work and I am delighted that we have been able to help support them through this donation.”

About the Charity:

Established in 1986, by Pauline Rice, the home began with just a few goats and sheep and a couple of cats and dogs. Ark Animal Rescue has spent nearly 30 years changing the lives of animals around North Somercotes and the Lincolnshire area. With its dedicated band of staff and volunteers they’ve helped rehome lost and abandoned pets or looked after those unsuitable for rehoming. The Home now house dogs and cats as well as rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice, rats, hamsters, degus, chinchillas, and even ducks, chickens, caged birds, and horses.

Over the last few years the Home has fallen on some hard times and it’s taken a huge push from the local community to help keep the Ark afloat. The more funds that the charity raises, the more animals they save and every penny raised is spent on food, veterinary care, housing and, when necessary, heating for the old and unwell.

Quote from Sue Rice, Manager, Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home

“I want to thank Young’s Seafood Limited for their generous donation. Without the support of our local community, local animal lovers and businesses like Young’s we wouldn’t be able to continue helping abandoned animals and making sure they get the care they need. Ark Animal Rescue is a special place run by staff and volunteers who do everything they can to provide the best possible environment for animals with nowhere else to go. We make sure all our residents have the best health care from local vets, food, donated by our supporters, a warm bed for the night, and most importantly the love they desperately need. We work hard to rehome as many of our animals as we can and when this is not possible we keep them warm, safe and happy at the Ark.”
