The 40th Cleethorpes Carnival has been and gone and the streets of Cleethorpes have been swept clean of glitter and confetti, but in an exciting announcement this morning chief sponsors Young’s Seafood Limited have revealed that the carnival will be back in 2016.

This year’s carnival was the biggest and best yet, with a record-breaking 40,000 people coming out onto the streets of Cleethorpes to celebrate the wonderful community tradition. The giant, luminous pink robot, Binbot wowed the crowds and Firebird lit up the sky breathing fountains of sparks.  Local favourites Granny Turismo delighted locals and visitors alike with their hilarious shopping trolly dance display, and the new Carnival Prince and Princess welcomed the crowds.

Following this incredible success, Young’s Seafood Limited have announced their continued sponsorship of the carnival. Pete Ward, CEO of Young’s Seafood Limited commented; “The 40th Cleethorpes Carnival was truly fantastic, raising an incredible £4,500 for charity and hosting record-breaking crowds. It’s clear from the number of people who volunteered, donated money and joined in the parade, and the astounding number of local people and visitors who came to watch, that the Cleethorpes Carnival remains a much-loved community event. At Young’s Seafood Limited we are delighted with how successful the carnival was this year and we can’t wait to do it all again in 2016.”

Leanor Pidgen, Parade Committee Member added; “We are absolutely thrilled that Young’s Seafood Limited are supporting the carnival again next year. Cleethorpes almost lost the carnival in 2012 after our funding was cut and it was only thanks to Young’s Seafood Limited’s support that we were able to continue. This year’s carnival was a huge success and people clearly love getting involved and coming along to watch the parade so we’re so happy to have the opportunity to work with Young’s again next year to continue this brilliant community tradition.”

The announcement took place at Ross House in Grimsby with Cleethorpes Events joining the Young’s Seafood Limited team to celebrate. Young’s Seafood Ambassador, Malcolm the Cat was there to join in the fun and declared the news “Meow-nificent”.
