The Young’s Seafood Limited Race for Life team have so far raised an incredible £3,934.00 for Cancer Research UK, more than double their £1,500 target. The team comprised of 21 Young’s Seafood Limited staff members took part in the local Cleethorpes Race for Life event on Sunday 17th May in Meridian Park and were generously sponsored by friends, family, colleagues and other supporters.

The team raced in bright pink personalised T-shirts, donated by Young’s Seafood Limited at the event hosted by Cancer Research UK. Every year the charity hosts over 300 different women-only racing events to raise money towards researching all 200 types of cancer.

The team members each have their own personal reasons for taking part in the Race for Life, Lindsay Mountain joined the Young’s Seafood Limited team in support of her Grandmother, she said; “Anything that will help fund further research into this dreadful disease is a step in the right direction, and I live in hope that a cure will one day be found”. Katy Ellis added; “I entered because I have close friends who have survived and lost loved ones to Cancer. The Young’s Seafood Limited Team was a fantastic way to bring us together to raise money and I’d love to do this every year!”

Maria Fotellis, HR Controller at Young’s Seafood Limited Personal commented; “It is very humbling seeing all the pictures and tributes to loved ones lost and those that have survived.  It has touched each and every one of us in some way.  We were all overwhelmed with how much money was raised and the team feels that joining together we have made a real difference with such a tremendous amount of sponsorships.  We already have a team of 10 people signed up for the Young’s Seafood Limited Team Grimsby Race for life 2016! I want to thank everyone in the team, all the Young’s Seafood Limited staff, our friends, family, and everyone else who has supported us.”

Pete Ward, Chief Executive of Young’s Seafood Limited added; “The team have worked so hard and we’re all extremely proud of them – to have raised so much money really is a triumph. As part of our Fish for Life Corporate Responsibility Programme, we’re committed to playing a positive role in the communities where we are based and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to support Cancer Research UK and their admirable work.”
