Young’s Seafood Limited Raise Over £130,000 For Charity

Local employer, Young’s Seafood Limited has today (Monday 8th February) announced that last year, as part of their Fish for Life Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, they raised over £130,000 for charity. The company donated funds to both local and national organisations, supported over 30 worthwhile causes and helped to organise two incredible local events.

As part of their Fish for Life Programme, in 2015 Young’s Seafood Limited donated over £1,500 to Harbour Place, the company’s selected Charity of the Year, as well as providing clothing and supplies to the Grimsby-based Day Centre for the homeless and other socially excluded groups. Allen Young, Project Director at Harbour Place commented, “We are delighted to have been chosen by Young’s Seafood Limited as their 2015 Charity of the Year. The support they have given us has been fantastic and we have achieved so much thanks to their generosity.”

In 2015 Young’s Seafood Limited also supported two fantastic local community events. In July Young’s sponsored and helped to organise the 40th Cleethorpes Carnival, which saw a record-breaking 40,000 people come out onto the streets of Cleethorpes to enjoy the parade, and raised over £3,500 for charity. In December the company staff brought their extensive experience of the Carnival to help support the first ever Cleethorpes Winter Wonderland, a three day event which invited over 30,000 people through its gates.

Young’s Seafood staff played a central role in the company’s Fish for Life Corporate Social Responsibility programme, from organising a Young’s Seafood Race for Life team to running bake sales for Macmillan Cancer Support and giving up their free time to volunteer at community events. Staff from across the Young’s Seafood sites came together to raise funds for worthwhile causes including St Andrews Hospice, Breast Cancer Care, Comic Relief and Bloodwise

Pete Ward, Chief Executive of Young’s Seafood Limited commented: “I am so proud that we have been able to do so much to support local and national charities. Our staff have worked tirelessly to support community events and to raise much-needed funds for charities like Harbour Place and Macmillan Cancer Support and in doing so they have truly embodied the values of our organisation. Young’s Seafood’s Fish for Life Corporate Social Responsibility Programme is central to everything we do and the values of our organisation, of always doing the right thing, everyday, form the foundations of our company.”
