Young’s Seafood Limited today announces that the Company has raised over £130,000 for charities both locally and nationally. As part of this on-going work Young’s Seafood Limited will today donate £1,000 to the Fishermen’s Mission as part of their long-term support of the charity, which provides emergency support and practical and financial care to active and retired fishermen and their families. The money was raised at the Cleethorpes Carnival and a “Fish Special Wednesday” hosted at Young’s headquarters in Grimsby. The donation will be used to help support the general work that the charity does. This includes offering immediate support in the case of injury, looking after the survivors of fishing boat accidents and offering welfare and care to older, retired fishermen.

Pete Ward, Chief Executive Officer of Young’s Seafood Limited, said “I am really proud of Young’s commitment to raising money. I’d like to thank everyone in the Young’s team for their enthusiasm and generosity. This year we’ve taken part in fundraising initiatives from wear it in pink days to Movember, and tree planting to ice bucket challenges. We’ve also donated toys, climbed mountains and hosted coffee mornings to support a range of charities including Children in Need, Marie Curie, River Kids and Prostate Cancer UK.”

“At Young’s we’re committed to helping support the fishing industry as part of our Fish for Life CSR programme. The Fishermen’s Mission is particularly close to the heart of our business and our community, so I’m delighted to hand over this cheque today.”

A spokesperson for the Fishermen’s Mission said, “We’d like to thank everyone at Young’s for their continued support of our work. Without generous donations of this kind, we wouldn’t be able to help the hundreds of fishermen and their families who rely on our support. Young’s Seafood Limited has been a great friend to the Fishermen’s Mission over the years and we are continually grateful for their involvement in our work.”
