To celebrate 30 years of its Chip Shop brand, Young’s Seafood Limited yesterday (Monday 23rd March) hosted a lunch party for members of staff who have worked at the Grimsby based company for thirty years or more.  The party took place at Grimsby Town FC and was attended by members of staff who have worked at the company for over 30 years, along with the Young’s Seafood Limited’s Board of Directors. 52 long-serving employees were invited to enjoy lunch with the board. Seven of these members of staff have worked for the business for over 40 years. While 15 of them celebrate 30 years of service this year – just like the Chip Shop brand. The total combined years in the business of all guests is 2,110.

Pete Ward, Chief Executive of Young’s Seafood, who has himself worked in the business for over 30 years, said: “It’s amazing to have our longest serving team members with us to celebrate. Young’s is committed to supporting the development of all our employees across all our sites in the UK and we’re very proud of how many of our staff choose to spend their whole career with Young’s. We’re delighted to celebrate 30 years since we launched our iconic Chip Shop brand and doing so with our committed long-serving employees is fantastic.”

Guests at the lunch were served a prawn starter, Chip Shop Haddock with chips for the main and a Chip Shop branded birthday cake for afters. Young’s Seafood Limited launched Chip Shop in 1985 and since then it has grown into it a truly iconic British brand. It is the Nation’s favourite brand of battered fish, occupying 35% of the market (Nielsen data, 52 weeks to 31.01.15).

This month the company announced an integrated marketing campaign for Chip Shop, which see the range in a new TV advert starring Malcolm the Cat. Voiced by Rupert Everett, Malcolm is a discerning foodie cat who longs for the delicious fish his family enjoys. The campaign also features a competition to discover the Nation’s favourite Fish Supper. Consumers can create their perfect Chip Shop Fish Supper using Young’s new fun website and app, choosing which species they prefer and their favourite sides and accompaniments.
